Fuensanta Méndez is a singer, bassist, and composer from the Petén-Veracruz moist forests of Mexico. Her music, both composed and improvised, is informed by poetry as well as the Latin American and European music, dance, theater, and literature she grew up with.
Since graduating from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in 2019, Fuensanta has performed around Europe and Mexico both as a soloist and with various groups. In 2020, she released her first album, Ensamble Grande, an extravaganza of voice, drums, horns, and strings, and an homage to her upbringing in the water forests of Mexico: colorful, beautiful, brutal, and raw.
