CO-HOSTED BY MOTOKI TONN

FOR 25 GUESTS AT GARDENS OF AJUDA

Altering through Brokenness

The Japanese craft of Kintsugi, or “golden rejoining,” dates back to the 15th century and is dedicated to the restoration of fine ceramic pottery with gold-laced epoxy, elevating these broken objects to new levels of beauty. As Leonard Cohen writes, “Forget your perfect offering. There is a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.” And at this dinner, held at Estufa Real in the middle of the Gardens of Ajuda, you’ll be challenged to face, honor, and transform your own “cracks” into new opportunities to shine.

Touching the Essence

Whether as spectators or participants, we all love to experience higher performance. Business, technology, sports, and entertainment all offer thrilling opportunities and examples of humans operating at their best. But it might be time to look at higher performance in a much more nuanced way–and examine how it may be both the solution and the cause of many of the most “wicked” problems we’re facing. With toasts from House residents and visiting experts from a half-dozen disciplines, this dinner will drill down to the essence of higher performance.
