Edit For Your Life

The un-edited life is not a life worth living. What can we learn from book and text-editing that applies to life at large, at work and beyond? Together with House managing editor and author Megan Hustad we invited you to join a heavily edited session on editing as a skill and art.

It’s not just that, in the words of designer Dieter Rams, “we have too many unnecessary words everywhere,” but that taking care to edit communications to make them swifter, bolder, more truthful, more reflective of our core concerns and deep knowledge, can be life-changing. In this session, we looked at how to do it, from the micro-scale of fixing sentences to the macro-scale of the collaborative editor-author dynamics that inform all good books.
