House members host local gatherings throughout the year, which take place in more than 30 cities worldwide. These mini-events are often wildly original and set at unconventional venues. Past examples include 15 Toasts to Unfinished Projects at an airport construction site, a roundtable on climate responsibility at a former nuclear reactor, and a series of “dilemma” walks around Amsterdam. The marketing executive launched a production company, film fund, and community resource called F.L.U.I.D (Fierce, Liberating, Unique Intersection of Diversity). In collaboration with indie film distribution executive Evan Schwartz, Akbar will be putting the spotlight on emerging and established queer filmmakers and storytellers.
