How Can We Trust AI?

How can we engender trust in AI? Should we at all, or is distrust perhaps more helpful? And how has the COVID-19 crisis changed the "AI trust issue"?

Technologists and policy makers are required to create AI systems that are safe, dependent, and responsible. But until end users have a way to respond at an algorithmic level to how these systems manifest themselves in their lives, will genuine trust in AI remain a myth?

We hosted a discussion about sovereign data, consensus-driven design, and participatory policy with Rumman Chowdhury, responsible artificial intelligence lead at Accenture, and Konstantinos Karachalios, managing director of The IEEE Standards Association.

This session was presented in partnership with IEEE.
