But will it be the new standard when it comes to corporate statesmanship and ethics? From “culture wars” over wokeness, identity, and free speech, to human rights issues and the question of engaging or disengaging with authoritarian regimes—how political must and can companies be with their constituents? To what extent should they allow for open debate within the workplace? And is it enough to have a strong “purpose” and be “conscious” when the world seems to be falling apart—with climate change, rampant polarization, and democracies under assault?
