Uncertainty

Becoming Uncertainty: Navigating Today’s Leadership

September 22 | Berlin, Germany

Agenda

In times of unrest, reshuffling, and (re)alignment, on an individual, collective, and even cosmic level, we look for navigation, reasoning, and a new moral compass.

Instead of staying in existing patterns for the sake of comfort and safety, how can we step into—and become—the unknown, balancing the edge and the precarious, tapping into our intuition, improvisation, somatic intelligence, and “doing beauty” to progress forward?

Following one of the most memorable moments at last year’s House gathering, choreographer and entrepreneur John Michael Schert and his partner, dancer Brett Perry, are inviting you to a Beautiful Business Trip that will move you inside out—and outside in.

Contributors

John Michael Schert is a choreographer, entrepreneur, and founder of the American Ballet Theatre Leadership Lab. He translates the skills and creative choice-making abilities of dance artists into tools for the private and public sectors. Among others, John Michael has provided consultancy for the James S. and John L. Knight Foundation, the Boston Foundation, Chicago Booth, the City of Boston, Healthwise, and Soho House.

Brett Perry is a dancer, coach, and a founding member of the celebrated Trey McIntyre Project. As John Michael’s life partner, he demonstrated how the creative process can be of relevance and value to other sectors. A sought-after teacher, Brett has taught master classes for institutions such as Point Park University, Western Michigan University, The Hartt School, Jose Limon Dance Company, Boston Dance Theater, and Ballet Idaho.

The program is co-hosted by our head of curation and community Monika Jiang, with original live music composed by the musical director of the House Mark Aanderud.
